Intake Coordinator Job Summary:
As an Intake Coordinator for MGA Home Healthcare’s Therapy division, you will gather information required to coordinate service eligibility. You will be responsible for managing incoming therapy referrals, verifying benefits and insurance, obtaining therapy orders and authorizations, and maintaining patient data.

The ideal person for this role should be organized and have excellent attention to detail. You must be able to provide outstanding customer service and, due to our high volume of Spanish-speaking clients, you must be bilingual.  Prior intake experience is a big plus, but not required as we have experienced coordinators available to lean on.

About the work:

  • Provide intake, data entry and follow-up on all therapy referrals to MGA Home Healthcare
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with current and potential referral sources
  • Communicate with families, referral sources, therapy leadership and other agency personnel regarding therapy referrals
  • Verify insurance benefits/eligibility and maintain compliance with payer-specific reimbursement guidelines
  • Request therapy orders (initial, POC, progress note, hold, resume, discharge, etc.) as directed by the therapy team
  • Obtain pre-authorization/authorization for initial and ongoing therapy services per payer requirements
  • Communicate the status of authorizations to therapy team and MGA Home Healthcare billing department
  • Assist with the identification and reporting of potential quality management and non-coverage issues
  • Input information related to therapy evaluations and therapy visit notes to assist with payroll
  • Other duties as assigned by the therapy director
Skills You Will Need:
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a must to perform job duties
  • College degree preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical/healthcare environment a plus
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
